Memorial Day Parade

Each year, volunteer organizations in town are invited to march in the New Castle Memorial Day Parade, held on the Monday Memorial Day holiday in May.  Chappaqua Girl Scouts march by troop behind our Girl Scout Honor Guard.  Each troop is invited to march: usually troops carry homemade banners (approx. 6 feet wide) decorated by the girls. Full uniform is not required, although scouts are encouraged to at least wear their vests, sashes or Daisy pinafores.  Scouts who wish to carry a flag in the Honor Guard are required to wear a full uniform.  The parade forms at 10:30 am "at the top of the hill" on Ridgewood Terrace, and marches down King Street, ending at a memorial service at the monument in front of the train station.

Troops will assemble youngest to oldest, in order of troop number.

e.g.:  Daisies (1024, 1077,  2100)

        Brownies (1011, 2151, 2440)

        Juniors

        Cadettes, Seniors, etc.

 Things to remember:

Banner

Wear walking shoes (adults and children)!

Wear vest

Hat/sunblock recommended

Carry water for your girls

IMPORTANT:  We need for the parade:

An Honor Guard, to carry our 6 flags at the front of the Girl Scouts as well as carry the 'Chappaqua Girl Scout banner.'

The Honor guard needs to report to Talbots at 10:15 to assemble for a brief ceremony at "Victory Corner" at the corner of 120/117.  They will carry the flags through the parade and hold flags at the Memorial Park ceremony.

* Two Brownies to lay floral wreaths at the Memorials - both at Victory Corner and at the train station/Memorial Park.

Please respond to me promptly for this as the parade organizer would like to include their names in the program.

*One or two troops to pass out little flags along the parade route.
